We know that one of the most important topics after making a decision on the purchase of your sofa bed is about delivery.

Of course you want to know when you can expect delivery;  how will your order be delivered; will the delivery be pre-booked?

On this page we have tried to provide information and answers to questions about delivery of our products.

Delivery Service Options

Almost without exception, our sofa bed and chair bed products are delivered in a number of packages, for easier access to properties, and require some customer home-assembly.

We use the services of a number of delivery partners depending on the delivery location, the ordered product and the required delivery service.

GROUND FLOOR DELIVERY – STANDARD SERVICE

Our ‘Standard’ delivery service is delivery to the ground floor and the packages will be placed just inside the entrance (a hallway perhaps) to the property address. If the address is flats/apartments the packages will be delivered to the ground floor communal hallway/lobby or placed in the lift if a suitably sized lift is available.

ROOM OF CHOICE – UPPER FLOOR or BELOW GROUND FLOOR DELIVERY – PREMIUM SERVICE

Our ‘Premium’ delivery service is a 2-person delivery to the customer ‘room of choice’ (ground floor OR upper floor/below ground floor level) – the packages will be taken to and placed in the customer room of choice.

OPTIONAL ASSEMBLY SERVICE

We do not offer an assembly service as a standard service that can be selected online BUT, depending on the product and delivery location, this can often be arranged. Where available, there is a charge for this service in addition to the delivery charge.
Assembly service, where available, MUST be booked IN ADVANCE with Sit and Sleep.

COLLECT FROM OUR WAREHOUSE (CLOSE TO CAMBRIDGE)

Collections in person with own vehicle
Customers can collect orders from our warehouse themselves on a pre-arranged day/time if they have a suitably sized private vehicle – we can provide package dimensions and weights for all of our products to enable customers to assess this option.

Collections using own arranged carrier
Customers can have orders collected from our warehouse by their own arranged carrier on a pre-arranged day/time. We can provide package dimensions and weights for all of our products to enable customers to assess this option.

Delivery Charges, Delivery Areas and Delivery Lead Times

DELIVERY CHARGING

Delivery charges are calculated in the shopping basket and are based on the weight/volume of the item you have selected, the distance to your postcode area and the delivery service that you require (e.g. ground floor OR upper floor/below ground floor level). You can see the calculated delivery charge by adding items to your basket – you can do this WITHOUT committing to completing a purchase.

DELIVERY AREAS

We deliver to addresses in mainland England, Wales and Scotland. For most areas, our website will automatically calculate the delivery charge of a product to your chosen delivery area. However, for some more distant/remote locations such as central Wales, Highland Scotland or offshore islands such as Isle of Wight, Channel Islands, Isle of Man or Scottish islands, our website does not calculate a delivery charge and we therefore need to quote you on an individual basis depending on your chosen product and the availability of a suitable delivery partner in your area. Please call us for further information.

We do not currently deliver to Northern Ireland or Republic of Ireland.
We do not deliver to other parts of the world.

DELIVERY LEAD TIMES

For many areas we can deliver ‘in stock’ (ready to go) items within 10 business days but some postcodes (e.g. Devon, Cornwall, some parts of Dorset, the Lake District, the Northeast, the Northwest, Wales, Scotland), due to their location and delivery partner frequency to those areas, means that some areas are on a longer delivery lead time. Lead times may be longer where production and/or shipping extends over public or staff holidays. Please call us for further information or if you have a particular required-by-date.

 

Lead times, as advised on some of our INNOVATION LIVING, SOFTLINE and PROSTORIA product pages (‘Contemporary Sofa Beds’) are for guidance only – these are usually very accurate but please be aware that there may be delays in production and shipments can be delayed/re-routed both of which are beyond our control. We will keep you updated if we become aware of any delays. Lead times may be longer where production and/or shipping extends over public holidays and Chinese New Year. Please call us for further information or if you have a particular required-by-date.

How is my Delivery Completed?

Most of our sofa beds are supplied in multiple parcels and are quite bulky items to ship. The type of item will determine the delivery partner used.

SOFA BEDS, FUTONS AND MATTRESSES

We mostly use smaller, independent delivery partners which means that items are not processed through big delivery hubs – we have found, over many years, that this is the preferable way of handling the goods and is a far better level of service for our customers.

Our main partners collect orders from us once or twice a week – they contact customers, directly, by e-mail to arrange a delivery day once they have physically collected the goods from our warehouse and they have planned their delivery routes for the following week.

Deliveries are only made once a day and a time slot has been booked with you.

 

REMOVABLE COVERS, TOPPERS AND ROLL-UP MATTRESSES

Smaller items such as Removable Covers, Topper Mattresses and Roll-up Mattresses are usually sent with a small parcel carrier.

Delivery days for these items are not usually booked in advance but customers will be advised of the day that the item is leaving us and the progress of the parcel is advised by text/email by the small parcel carrier.

Packaging and Returns

DELIVERY PACKAGING

All packaging should be removed carefully from the product and retained somewhere dry in case you should choose to return an order within the statutory 14 day right to return period.

Items that you wish to return MUST be re-packaged in the original packaging.

If you choose to return an order/part of an order and the original packaging has not been retained, we can send you new packaging BUT there would be a charge for the new packaging and delivery of that packaging.

RETURNS

Whilst we absorb some of the cost of delivery, we do not absorb the cost of returning goods to Sit and Sleep.  As a result a returns charge will be greater than the original outward delivery charge.

The returns charge is only ever what we will be charged by the delivery company. Please call us for further information if you wish to know the potential returns charge for an item before placing an order.

If you should decide to return an order/part of an order, in the first instance you should e-mail us or telephone us so we can advise the cost of collection and return of the item to our warehouse.
