Naturally Fire-Safe ROMAN 3 Seater Futon

Our ever-popular ROMAN 3-seater futon sofa bed, is available with our Naturally Fire Safe futon mattress.  With a choice of pure Cotton covers or woven Hemp fabrics your futon sofa bed is free from man made fire retardants.

Simple conversion from futon seat to futon bed. Fold out the rear in one action and the base is ready to make a bed.

Futon base with wheels. Discrete wheels make it easy to move and position the Roman futon.

Three seater futon sofa.

Adjustable backrest. Two position backrest angle for greater comfort.

Detachable futon armrest option. These arms also slot in to make a headboard when the base is used as a bed.

Fully assembled futon frame sections. Simply fit 3 bolts before use.

Our hand-made Supreme futon is supplied as standard. You can also choose from filling upgrades for even more comfort.

The ROMAN futon is supplied in two separate packages:

A large cardboard box containing the base:200 x 97 x 28cm – 24Kg

The Futon Mattress is rolled and bagged in heavy duty plastic.

Typical measurements and weights are:Standard Double: 137 x 55cm (rolled) – 20Kg

The ROMAN futon is supplied 99% assembled. The base only requires the two pre-assembled sections to be linked together using the bolts and allen key fittings provided.

The ROMAN futon is supplied as standard with our Supreme futon mattress which is ideal for occasional/regular bed or sofa use. If you would like a more resilient mattress our SuperPoly specification, with the addition of two 450g/m2 layers of SuperBond Polyester adds loft to the mattress.

Alternatively for regular bed or sofa use we would recommend upgrading to our FoamLux futon mattress which incorporates a generous 40mm thick foam core for more comfort and support.

Our Naturally Fire Safe futons comply fully with the UK Fire Safety legislation for upholstered furniture.

As an alternative to using upholstery fabrics which are back coated with a fire retardant chemical, we make our Naturally Fire Safe futon mattresses using a 100% wool interliner under the upholstery fabric.  This wool interliner is “Schedule 3” compliant as a fire barrier as wool is naturally fire-retardant.

When covered with an upholstery fabric which is 100% composed of natural fibres – (Cotton, Hemp or Wool), this meets the requirements of the 1988 (Fire) (Safety) legislation as amended for upholstered furniture.

Our Naturally Fire Safe futon mattresses have the following choice of upholstery fabrics:

Pure Cotton fabric
100% cotton upholstered over a WoolGuard (100% wool) interliner.

Hemp fabric
71% cotton certified under the Better Cotton Initiative;  29% Hemp Oekotex 100 (certified safe from harmful substances).

Woolfelt fabric
75% recycled wool, 20% polyamide, 5% other fibres

This product is generally kept in our stock and is usually despatched to our delivery partner within a few working days of us receiving an order, once your chosen mattress and options have been completed for you.

The lead time for despatch to delivery varies according to your geographic location.

The delivery date is pre-arranged with you.

Once your order has been despatched, a delivery day will be booked with you by our delivery partner together with an estimated time slot for your delivery. Note: Small items, such as futon covers and cushions, are sent by small parcel carrier and delivery is not pre-booked, however, you will receive text/email updates as the item moves through the system.

If you have a ‘must-have-by’ date, please give us as much notice as you can so we can prioritise production of orders and plan delivery accordingly to increase the possibility of meeting a date.
