Our most popular futon, the Traditional has fold-out legs which automatically lift the base up as you fold it out as a bed. This gives a sleeping surface height similar to a normal bed, making the Traditional Futon ideal for people of all ages.

This Traditional Futon sofa bed comes as standard with our Original futon mattress which gives good performance as a sofa or bed.

For additional resilience and loft you can upgrade your mattress to the PolyLux mattress which includes an additional layer of 450g/m2 SuperBond Polyester.

The TRADITIONAL futon is despatched as three packages.

Two cardboard boxes containing the base:

The Futon Mattress is rolled and bagged in heavy duty plastic.

Just link the two parts of the frame together with the Allen key bolts supplied.

If you’ve also ordered the optional Headboard Arms, these require a small amount of additional assembly.

Our Naturally Fire Safe futons comply fully with the UK Fire Safety legislation for upholstered furniture.

As an alternative to using upholstery fabrics which are back coated with a fire retardant chemical, we make our Naturally Fire Safe futon mattresses using a 100% wool interliner under the upholstery fabric.  This wool interliner is “Schedule 3” compliant as a fire barrier as wool is naturally fire-retardant.

When covered with an upholstery fabric which is 100% composed of natural fibres – (Cotton, Hemp or Wool), this meets the requirements of the 1988 (Fire) (Safety) legislation as amended for upholstered furniture.

Our Naturally Fire Safe futon mattresses have the following choice of upholstery fabrics:

Pure Cotton fabric
100% cotton upholstered over a WoolGuard (100% wool) interliner.

Hemp fabric
71% cotton certified under the Better Cotton Initiative;  29% Hemp Oekotex 100 (certified safe from harmful substances).

Woolfelt fabric
75% recycled wool, 20% polyamide, 5% other fibres

This product is generally kept in our stock and is usually despatched to our delivery partner within a few working days of us receiving an order, once your chosen mattress and options have been completed for you.

The lead time for despatch to delivery varies according to your geographic location.

The delivery date is pre-arranged with you.

Once your order has been despatched, a delivery day will be booked with you by our delivery partner together with an estimated time slot for your delivery. Note: Small items, such as futon covers and cushions, are sent by small parcel carrier and delivery is not pre-booked, however, you will receive text/email updates as the item moves through the system.

If you have a ‘must-have-by’ date, please give us as much notice as you can so we can prioritise production of orders and plan delivery accordingly to increase the possibility of meeting a date.
